Welcome

Miniature donkey foal

Thank you for visiting ASS Me Y Farm.   Our love for animals has taken us from the urban city life to a small 11 acre hobby farm just outside of Columbia, Tennessee, where we now have a small herd consisting of several goats, dogs & cats, one pot-belly pig, one pony, and yes, three miniature donkeys - hence the name of our farm “ASS Me Y”

We are new in the business and look for it to be another year or two before we begin selling our donkeys, but we were so excited about our first foal (Black Pearl), that we decided to go ahead and develop our website in order to share our excitement with those who have similar interests.

We Are All About Miniature Donkeys

We are all about miniature donkeys, but our love for animals includes just about anything with fur, fins or feathers.  We hope you enjoy the photos throughout our website and we invite you to visit both online and in person to “ASS Me Y” we’re in the business of breeding, buying and selling these loving long-ear little critters, and to watch as we progress and become more knowledgeable about the business and establish a presence within the miniature donkey community.

We purchased our first miniature donkey about two years ago.  Zack was just a little spotted guy at the time of purchase and we immediately fell in love with him.  As he grew, he had such a wonderful disposition that on the advise of others, we decided to have him gelded in order to keep him as a pet.  It was the best decision we could have made, as he is now the most loving little donkey you can possibly imagine.

Last year we purchased Sister Sara for my husband’s 50th birthday present.  Sara is 10 years old and she was already bred at the time we bought her.  Her history of foals in the past was very good, and we could hardly wait for this summer to arrive.

As May grew near, we became increasingly eager for the arrival of our first foal.  So much so, we installed a camera in our barn to keep an eye on Sara – we didn’t want to miss a thing!  But don’t you know, on the evening of June 1st, while my husband was out back grilling chicken, Sara decides to stroll to the back of our acreage and give birth.  It all happened so quickly!!  But Jeff and I were there as Sara dropped her to the ground and I held Pearl in my lap as Sara licked her and I cleaned her off with a towel.  The imprinting process happened just as we read it should and Black Pearl is absolutely perfect!!
